On Tuesday, 31 March 2026, the inaugural meeting of Erongo RED’s Board of Directors took place at the company’s headquarters in Walvis Bay. The meeting was attended by all directors duly appointed by the shareholders with a stake in the company.
During the meeting, Erongo RED’s CEO, Mr. Immanuel !Hanabeb provided the new Board with a brief overview of the company’s background, overall financial performance, governance matters, mandate, community impact, as well as the role and responsibilities of directors.
As part of the inaugural meeting, the new directors also had the opportunity to nominate and elect members to various leadership portfolios. Mr Johnny Johnson Doeseb was elected Chairperson of the Board, with Mr Ismael Kalipi elected as Deputy Chairperson.
In addition, the following Committee Chairpersons were appointed:
- Ms. Selma Shaanika – Chairperson of the Audit & Risk Committee
- Mr. Justy Moses – Chairperson of the Remuneration & Nomination Committee
- Mr. Titus Johannes – Chairperson of the Social & Ethics Committee

In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Doeseb thanked management for convening the meeting and expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to serve the company. He said he looks forward to working collaboratively to provide strategic leadership and effective oversight to this vital organisation. “We are committed to building a cohesive and high-performing team that delivers on its mandate and ensures quality and affordable service to our customers.
Our leadership will be strategic, policy-driven, and grounded in strong governance principles, never reactive or adversarial. We will foster a culture of accountability, discipline, transparency, and results across the organisation,” said Mr. Doeseb.
Doeseb further said that “the future that they are building is a nation where no child studies in the dark, no patient is treated in uncertainty, and no community is left behind.Reliable electricity is not a luxury; it is a foundation for equality, health, and prosperity. We will continue strengthening our social impact initiatives, particularly for the elderly and vulnerable members of our communities, through subsidized programs that ensure no one is left behind”.
